Was Ester attempting a human connection during her illness?

She tried to kiss her sister in an intimate way. Many say "lesbian" but I really thought she was just trying to form a human connection as she knew she was ill and dying and needed an affirmation of life/love. I thought she was reaching out in a desperate way.

Thoughts, anyone?

Yes, I believe too that Ester was so much emotionally isolated and craving for human connection. But I also think that she was sexually deprived and frustrated and the move that made towards her sister was a covert expression of eroticism. That doesn't mean necessary that she was a lesbian. I guess she never learned to direct her sexual urges outside the family.
