Is this appropriate for kids?

Most likely, depending on how young the child is. My 8 year old daughter didn't find it scary, though times have changed. I probably would have been a bit spooked if I had seen this as a child say 30-40 years ago but it's pretty tame by today's standards. Lot of TV shows are scarier than this, though for me I much more enjoy this kind of scary:)

Yes, definitely.

It all depends on the child. I loved Gothic horror as a child. I think most children can handle this. There is no foul language, no sexual content and there is very little gore.
