Luminescent Yvette Mimieux

After reading some of the comments posted here, I feel compelled to come to the defense of Yvette Mimieux's performance. Was she woefully miscast? I don't see it. Certainly she was cast with more mature and accomplished actors whose parts required greater dramatic range (and they all came through), but that does not discount her performance in her role. I thought she held her own quite well under the circumstances at the tender age of 20. She seemed perfectly cast as a young and beautiful child bride who was naive, innocent and madly and blindly in love with Dino's character. She exuded a kittenish sexiness while also maintaining a childlike innocence. What a unique beauty. Luminescent! Was it not totally believeable that every strange man she strolled past gave her the once over twice (and thrice)? I'd heard of her but hadn't seen her in anything before. In fact, I'd assumed from her name that she was a French actress. Looking over her career listings, it seems a shame she didn't get more opportunity. Nice to hear she's happy (and well-heeled) in her retirement. Does anyone have any recommendations amongst her other films? Looks like "Light in the Piazza" might be a good one.

I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of her movies; at least nothing jumps out at me as I think about it. I did see and really enjoyed Light in the Piazza. It's very different but it's a good, thought-provoking movie.

Her role is somewhat similar to the one she plays so well in this movie but there are also some significant differences. A young, pre-perpetual tan, George Hamilton plays her love interest and Olivia de Havilland plays her mother. If you haven’t already, you should see it!

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]
