Angry Young Man

As a testament to the struggles of certain angry young men in post WWII Britain, this serves as an instructive narrative to the struggles of an at bottom decent human being trying to ascend the ladder of class. He's a decent human being who, when sober, has a feel for people and is capable of genuine affection. He's sensitive and thoughtful, if only because of broken teeth. That aside, I believe the message of this movie is that you cannot live the sporting life and experience genuine love on your own terms. What difference did it make that Frank wanted to buy nice things and a fur coat for his land-landy?
