I realize this is a comment board, but am I the only 'horror' fan tired of the cliche' thunder/lightening cues? This effect seems to occur only in certain "classic" horror films (like this one).

Normally it annoys me that just about every horror movie in existence takes place during a thunderstorm, but in films like this, I don't mind it at all. It just adds to the creepy, Gothic atmosphere.
Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.
It's kinda the film-making equivalent to that famous line of purple prose, "It was a dark and stormy night."
shareI never tire of thunder and lightning in horror movies. It was essential in the original Frankenstein of course. Perhaps that film started the trend. Nothing sets up the anticipation like a storm clattering around old castle or spooky mansion. It's like a thrill that hugs me every time.
