Lo-Budget

For a cheapie flic,the Terror is quite entertaining;

it somehow elicits :

-mood(ambiance)

-intrigue

-mystery girl-Knight is apropos

-Boris is always good

-Dick Miller is effective

-the old lady is fun

-scenes of the beach are mesmerizing,etc.

It's pretty damned good. The mood is perfect.

The only part that I really have a problem with is Jack Nicholson.

reply

Funny you say that about Jack because in'63 when i saw the Raven i thought Nicholson was the weak link !

reply

I thought he was totally miscast. They should have hired someone a little more "continental" to pull of those lines.

reply

...Jack hardly appears French in any shape or fashion;

Yes, low budget horror movies are my favorites most of the time and this is no exception. I wish they still made horror movies with this creepy, Gothic atmosphere.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

reply

Agreed-give me gothic or give me ....more gothic !

Fun flicker and it has its moments for sure.

I agree, what do people really expect from a low budget b horror film,,i enjoyed it though, lot better than people make it out to be.
are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite

Any one know what the budget actually was? It must have been low if Corman was going to give Karloff 15 grand if it made $150000.
