Why didnt the kidnapper get away with the money?

Not all kidnappers run away with money.
Maybe he planned to, just waiting the things to settle down.

But I believe he didn't care for the money as he wanted to be around and see Gondo's fall. Beside that, there were also 2 junkies (accomplices) he was trying to get rid off.
