Music

I love this movie and the music is great. Does anyone know where to find the music? There isn't a soundtrack. Thanks!

This is my favorite Hayley Mills movie! I like the music a lot too. ....Although, I still cringe a bit at the "Femininity" song! Those lyrics!! I found the album used on Ebay. They don't have it on cd unfortunately. However, you can find some of the songs included in some of the Disney compilation cds.

I just posted a message about that song without having read your comment first. I was also shocked by those lyrics!!!

No need to be shocked by women using their femininity to "get a man" They did it back then and they still do it today- in one way or another. Otherwise we wouldn't be seeing these young girls running around with their bellies hanging out between shirts that are too short and hip hugger pants that don't quite come up to their hips! It just isn't talked about today. Women seem to think they no longer use their feminine wiles to get a man but they do they just changed the manner in which they do it. Women's lib will never change the way men and women interact completely. Some things just can't be changed!!! ;)

Just watch a few TV commercials- SEX sells.

P.S. I love this movie. So much that I bought it and I rarely buy movies. Great story and I had forgotten how beautifully Burl Ives sings. I love "The Ugly Bug Ball" Couldn't wait to share it with my grandkids.

I completely agree with Katesgram. Plus the song I know is a joke and it cracks me up everytime I hear it. I enjoy it for what it is. And its a lot nicer and funnier to sing and hear than to hear some of todays music telling its audience that women are "b*tches" and "hos" and the like. Or the songs women are singing about what they'll do to a guy to keep him. And even then I take it for what it is. Its a medium used to get a point across whether serious or jokingly.

I disagree that it is a joke. It is laughable but sort of appropriate for the time and for disney's fondness for nostalgia and the good ole days. It could be tongue-in-check but it doesn't seem like it, from what kind of movie it is and all.

I enjoy the melody but the lyrics are cringe-worthy.

Your point doesn't jive with me-Woman today are pressured to look good, and that sort of thing everyone does. That is to get the attention of a man. Mostly we have moved away from the theory that we should change our personality entirely for a man.

I mean, again, the whole using your body and sex and dressing slutty is all to be popular or well-liked or get attention from boys. Women today also get to be their own person they will have opinions, arguments...they won't be expected to laugh at the guys jokes, compliment his masculinity, allow him to do the talking, hide the real you...I guess it's more of a song to tell you how to get a man, and then do whatever, but I guess I'll still don't agree with the notion that today's women aren't more advanced and still do all these things all to get a guy. We want to present our best self to a potential mate, sure-guys do that too-but not as much of a supressing our real selves kind of way.
