life imitating art

Quite a few years ago i listened to an interview on John Dunn's radio programme. It was about a guy and several of his friends who copied this film for real in the sixties. If i remember correctly he also worked for the buses, and was given permission to travel to europe for a tourism promotion . As part of the tour they took home movies and photographs etc. which was then put together for a film, hence the radio interview, in the nineties. What i cant remember was if it was a documentary for the tv or for the cinema.

It would be intresting to know if it was ever broadcast and if it was issued on video/dvd, as im sure it is something most of us whose seen the cliff film would love to copy even now.

Interesting to compare. Since 1962 there should be some remarkable changes - French part of roads would be crowded to standstill today as oppose to France in 60s, I wonder. Instead of one Yugoslavian border, there should be practically 5 borders until Greece. Americans would not pass Swiss border without detailed check of their car - with local road sign inside, they would probably ended up at the police station. Once in Athens, there would be protests and civil unrest. Also, instead of runaway American singer, they would pick up some illegal immigrant along the way- probably...
