Yes, this movie is worse than Manos.

At least Manos made you laugh with its stupidity. At least (let's be honest here) it was a tiny little bit charming, deep, deep beneath its layers of bad editing, awful acting and downright dumbness.

This movie isn't. It's very bad and very boring. I had to finish viewing it in a dozen sittings. WITH MST3K.

Manos may be a 'popular' bad movie ever. This may well be the 'real' worst movie ever.

I think Coleman Francis has been very hard done by. One movie poll picks out Ed Wood as the worst director of all time, and then Ed Wood is all you ever hear about - biopics, the works.

Coleman Francis is in a whole other LEAGUE. I'm pleased to see he's finally claimed the #1 spot that's so rightfully his.

reply

Coleman Francis is easily the worst director of all time, but he had nowhere as many films as other bad directors.

Manos is still a worse film. IMDB is too easy to fool. Look at all the 10 votes for Manos. Obvious sabotage for the #1 spot. I'm sure if Hal Warren had directed more films, he could easily have eclipsed even Francis as the worst director of all time.

You watch bad movies and you don't know what MST3K is? That's both mindboggling and somewhat masochistic to endure crap like Manos or Hobgoblins without Joel/Mike and the bots.

reply

no, seriously, what is MST3K? i go into boards and they talk about but i have no idea what it is

This movie cant be worse than Manos, that movie didnt even make sense.

Without MST3K, i think i would have killed myself watching it.

reply

If you have no idea what MST3K is than I suggest you check it out it was one of the best TV shows ever. I don't think I would have made it through any of these terrible movies without MST3K

No way is this worse than "Manos, the Hands of Fate." "The Skydivers" is simply boring and stupid; "Manos" is downright offensive -- though my own "worst of all time" choice is an even more offensive movie, "Shriek of the Mutilated." (When the MST3K crew gave an interview in which they said that some movies were SO tasteless even they wouldn't do them, I suspect "Shriek of the Mutilated" was one of the ones they were thinking of.)

I'm going to have to disagree with you for the simple fact that manos was only shot for $19000. Hal Warren didn't have much to work with or any leverage at all, and I think his plot was halfway coherent and workable to be an average movie with slightly better writing, editing and music, which can all be fixed with money, but as for manos being worse or not, I have not seen skydivers, but I have seen manos (the pure unaltered version without the gay MST3K people ruining the film for me) I got plenty of laughs out of it just by noticing the horribly obvious flaws myself. I really never liked mst3k but I loved watching manos without it. I gave the movie a 7 for pure entertainment value, so I would not call it the worst film ever made.

paired with the bold, take-no-prisoners, acting of Tony Cardoza, the Library of Congress better *jump* on this one!

I'm an American, honey, our names don't mean sh!t.

I don't see how a film like this could've gotten off the Bottom 100 list.To watch this movie without MST3k is absolute torture.Plus for MST3k fans, this just might be one of the best jobs by Mike and the bots.

Yes this is worse than Manos, but it is better than the Beast of Yucca Flats and the worst movie ever made in Red Zone Cuba.

reply

"monster a go-go" is the worst moview ever made.

Hardcore bad movie fans don't need no MSTK or whatever that is you need to watch.

Well, I'm a bad movie fan and I enjoy MST3K.

Here's the thing: "Manos", for all its horrible-ness (is that even a word?) was just an attempt to make a silly horror movie. It was just incredibly ineptly done.

This movie, on the other hand: it's so bizarre, so incomprehensible, that I kind of get the idea that it's supposed to be "artistic". That is, it's this guy's notion of what an "art film" is. So it's not just inept and incompetently done -- there's an added dollop of pretension on top of it all. Like a nice scoop of ice cream on a big slice of crappy movie a la mode.
