....

this has absolutely nothing to do with the above post. This is why i hate IMDB signatures.

So did I. Must say that the reason I have not cancelled my HuluPlus premium account is because of the "Zatoichi" franchise.

Hulu is my first exposure to these (apart from the Beat Takashi remake). If there is any drawback, it is the fact there is rarely a hint on Hulu about what the order is of series films.

Same here. I just finished watching this one and it might be the best so far. All three I've seen now are great. And they're all free on Hulu through Criterion. They've got 18 I think, of the 25 films. When you're watching them, right below the video it shows the Zatoichi playlist, with all of them in order, minus the ones they don't have, and minus the 1989 26th and final film which is also free on Hulu, but through a different channel. I just may end up watching all the movies on there.

But the wikipedia page on Zatoichi is certainly helpful to get the order straight.

I stumbled upon this set of films because of my subscription to Hulu+ and my obsession with watching every Criterion I possibly can while the contract lasts.

I am now a huge Z fan - I feel betrayed by all my fellow movie nerds for not telling me about these. Amazing
