absurd plot (?)

Behavior and mental stability are based on environmental feedback--people go crazy in isolation, people can get deranged if they are part of a mob--so mental hospitals really don't make sense except as permanent storage facilities. I actually have first-hand experience of this with a relative who went into a mental hospital about 50% crazy and came out 110% nuts through interacting with the patients and the unrestrained environment. He of course was readmitted soon after to the enrichment of the doctors, who did finally apply the standard mental sedation and achieve a "cure"
