Criterion Re-release

I checked on www.criterionforum.org and I found out that both Shock Corridor and The Naked Kiss are in the works for re-releases by Criterion for this year.

Hopefully this come to fruticion.

Since you seem familiar with the films. perhaps you can help me. I bought "The Naked Kiss" expecting to see a scene where Constance Towers sings a song with her head completely wrapped in a feather boa, so that only the puffing of the feathers lets you know she's actually under there ...it's quite bizarre ...it wasn't on my DVD. Have I mistaken this for a scene that is actually in "Shock Corridor"?

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

Yes, the Constance Towers scene you are referring to is in Shock Corridor. She is an amazing woman.

Damn ... I couldn't remember which one that scene was in ... it was going to be an either/or purchase ... now it will have to be both ... isn't that scene simply the WEIRDEST thing you've ever seen?

I'm not really disappointed though, Constance doing her hospital rounds in a slinky black evening gown is pretty off the wall too.

...and thank you.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

anyone pick up a copy?

I'm watching the Criterion release as I type this; I got it via my online rental queue (it's Zip.Ca in Canada, which is like Netflix), so I don't know if features get taken out because it's a rental. I know they do that at places like Blockbuster.

The only "supplements" on the version I'm watching are a couple of little featurettes ("The Typewriter, The Rifle and The Movie Camera" and "Constance Towers") and the original theatrical trailer. Surely there must be more to it if one were to buy instead of rent it! I'm not as keen on it as I'd expected to be, though, so I can't see myself shelling out the $30-$40 for it. Anyone else reading this & actually own a copy?

Well, I don't actually own a copy, but I checked the Criterion release out from my local library, and the only supplement was the original theatrical trailer. Plus the color bars, which Criterion has on many releases for testing home theater systems (and aren't related to the film, anyway).

What were those featurettes like, and are they worth seeking out? I wonder if this was a perk of Zip.Ca?
