Early screening in Edinburgh back in the 1960's.

I remember seeing this movie long ago with a girl friend and being impressed with it then. The girl friend fell asleep during the performance. At that time I was impressed by the layout of the Regency house with its period fittings and the sham doorway into the hall, concealed as a bookcase. Another feature that caught my eye was the regulator clock in the corner of the hall. They were unfamiliar domestic fittings. By and large it was a beautiful period house with some bizarre occupants who became vile by most people's standards. A most ingenious plot.
