The lovely Miss Hovey

While "The Sadist" is a taut, entertaining little B-picture, Helen Hovey is beautiful in the movie (like Angie Dickinson in "Rio Bravo.") Too bad it's her only film appearance.

According to Arch Hall, Jr., Helen Hovey is a cousin of his.

reply

She's also a great runner (barefoot)

reply

I swear I was thinking the same thing while I was watching the movie toward the last part. She is one heck of a runner barefoot or not. She must of been a athlete of some sort. I wonder whatever happened to her. I seen a whole lot worse actress's and less appealing actress's then her. It is a shame she only did one movie.

reply

Oh that adds new interest to that grope scene we almost see... I thought the camera tilted up out of modesty...

Stunning Sixties Eye-Candy! Looks like a dirty-blonde Betty Page!

She is very beautiful in the film -- very shapely and healthy looking; seems like back them movie-star women knew what calories were...

I noticed THAT , too!

Hey there guys. I was wanting to do a little search for this and I came here. I think my aunt does a good job in this. Her sister just passed Jan. 3, 2007 and it got me thinking about her. Just thought I'd put in my .02 cents.

Ditto! Whatever happened to your Aunt after this movie? Give us a bio! What did she do for a living? Did she ever get married? Have kids? Where is she today?

reply

Hey, been a while. I'm sorry I haven't kept up with her an awful lot. She has three children. Luke, Matthew, and Dayspring. She lives in Dallas, TX. Not too far of a drive for my parents that live in Houston. She is still married to this day (Don't know the wedding date). Her last name is now Brock. She is still a sweet lady. I wish I could talk to her more often than I'm able. I'm so glad to think that there are people out there that appreciate her performance, still, to this day. Thanks everyone that has made a comment about this picture. I now have a newfound respect for the internet.

Thank you all, Craig Hovey.

reply

craig please keep us informed on how she is doing. She was great as I mentioned before in other posts there were many stars that Hollywood neglected and didn't use them right.

reply

Thanks for the info Craig!

These small budget drive in flicks from the 1950s-1970s, many of them have achieved a cult stasus favorite, but many of the people who made them, both behind and in front of the camera, seemed to have disappeared right off the face of the earth. One wants to know where they are now because we're interested in their films, the making of their films, etc. Thankfully many are being tracked down and their interviews are popping up in magazines, books, and here on the internet. The wherabouts of your Aunt has been a mystery to us fans of the Sadist for many years! :-)

reply

She does indeed do a good job in this. I'm sorry for your loss earlier this year. Maybe you could let people know how your aunt is faring and what she did in the years after she made this film.

Sad News !!! ... I just heard from Arch Hall Jr. that Helen Hovey-Brock has died , after a Long Battle with Cancer ... R.I.P. , Helen Hovey (1942-2009)

Aw damn. RIP Helen.

What a shame. RIP Helen RIP

sumtymsicomback: Albert Einstein MARRIED his first cousin...how is that for EEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!?

reply

Helen Hovey is GORGEOUS! I to wished she had done more. She has such a classic beauty.

reply

She is certainly extremely attractive; very pulchritudinous. Anyone sensitive to feminine beauty can't help but be touched by her stunning looks: an archetypal beauty.

And the shapely 1960s 'onion booty' doesn't hurt either.

reply

E.A. Poe married his cousin too. It's just gross. I don't even like to hug my cousins. They are a fun bunch but I ain't hugging them.

reply

Rudolph Giuliani's first wife was his cousin, also.

Ga.....Ew.....stop it........

FOWL IS FAIR

And here I thought it was just me.

She had, IMO, as great a combination of wholesomeness and desirability ever seen on film. That she also had obvious acting ability makes me wish she had done more films. Of course, maybe it was a good thing she only did this one movie and we can remember her fondly for it.

No blah, blah, blah!
