Awful

The humor here is poor. Nicholson is embarrassing. I know it's a farce but god it's hard to sit through. Karloff as usual is a joy. It would have made a fun drive in feature I suppose, so long as you had plenty of beer.

This film is popular with children. Fast-moving competition between magicians. A man being turned into a bird. You can see what they see in it. I like Vincent Price, Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre just about in anything. So I'll go along with this movie anytime.

Agreed. They were the masters of horror movies. When Karloff says "Afraid my dear. There's nothing to be afraid of" you just know that bad things are in the offing for the other characters. And in real life I understand he was a kind, shy, gentle soul totally unlike his onscreen persona. Of course both Price and Lorre had their share of scary movies as well. I doubt we shall see their like again anytime soon.

Re Karloff's ironic delivery of "Afraid My dear." Those type of lines are something I like about some of the old horror masters. Karloff and Price were great at ironic delivery.

Agreed, this was almost impossible to sit through. I was hoping it would end sooner than later. I normally don't pan old school special effects, but it didn't even seem like they tried to make them look good.

It's a comedy - that is part of the "old school" comedy "cheesy effects" -- that is what makes the movie more comical - comical effects!!

I LOVE this movie - you just have to get the "old school" humor to appreciate this film.

This is not a great film by any means, but it's rather enjoyable for the most part. In the end, though, I would only give this another watch to stare at Hazel Court's glorious boobs.

Comedy of Terrors is much better. For one thing it's actually funny

Totally disagree. This film is wonderful. One of my favorites.

The Wizard's duel was one of best I've ever seen.

It's a lot of fun.

I enjoy seeing old professionals like Karloff, Price, and Lorre verbally and visually sparring with each other...

Having said that, I seem to think that Karloff was really trying to play it 'straight'...

"The Raven" is most definitely on my re-watch list!
