'American' version?

Has anyone seen both versions? Curious to know how different they are. I didn't even know there WAS two until i watched the tim lucas commentary. I don't know why AB didn't put both on the disc...

I think it's a rights issue with MGM for this title but not certain. Try reading the message board under Mario Bava's name.

The version I saw was 86min, so I am guessing that it is the American one. That really ticks me off when I watch something good, only to find out that it had chunks cut out. And if it was cut due to censorship, I am guessing they reomved some of the best parts.

I just watched the Amercian version last night while I recorded it for a friend. It runs 91 minutes. It was not censored per se, but AIP wanted to make it less intense and had Bava shoot a few additional scenes that play for comedic effect. AIP also had Les Baxter rescore the film with a light and jaunty style, and John Saxon did his own dubbing for the English version.
You can always tell if you are seeing the AIP version...it's in English and titled EVIL EYE!

The 86 minute version is the Italian one on the Bava DVD set.
