Am I missing something?

What or who is a "GIALLO?" Pardon my ignorance.

reply

Giallo is an Italian sub-genre of thriller film that first arose in the '60s and hit its stride in the '70s.

They're murder mysteries with a bit of Agatha Christie/Hitchcock, generally mixed with lurid violence and sex.

They can be seen as a precursor to the slasher movie, and I believe the reason why the genre declined was because of the slasher's runaway success at the end of the '70s.

A typical plotline of a giallo, one that this movie seems to share, is that the main character witnesses a murder and ends up next on the hit list.

Thanks for updating my Film history.

Sorry, are you being sarcastic?

I took your first question seriously, which may have been stupid of me. Just trying to help.

reply

No..not at all. I feel very knowledgeable about films and film history and genre's. I just somehow missed the Giallo thing. I guess I just never came across that genre name. So no, I was not being sarcastic. Thanks for asking though.
