THE only Surreal movie I liked...

I've seen over 3500 movies. I usually dispise surreal movies. I found this movie to be very enjoyable though. Don't exactly know why... To me surrealism is just a distraction from the story. It's like the filmmaker realizes the story isn't strong enough and needs to add surrealism as a distraction. In the case of this movie, I think it had the opposite effect.

Most surrealistic movies are the way they are because they aren't supposed to tell a story, their purpose is to convey a message or a character study. The plot is there just to keep things together and usually has little to no bearing on the overall film.

I'm here, Mr. Man, I can not tell no lie and I'll be right here 'till the day I die

I agree with you. There are other surrealist movies i have enjoyed, but generally i don't like them for the same reason you have mentioned and this movie is definently my favorite of the ones i do like!
