the book wasn't precisely a memoir

First of all, she was born Corinne Griffin, not Griffith, the latter of which she took as a stage name; and secondly, her father was not a railroad engineer as in the book and film but a Methodist minister. Her book, "Papa's Delicate Condition," was a novelization of her actual life and not strictly meant to be an accurate memoir.
