I recall watching this movie as a kid of 11 years of age. Things seem different in a child's reality world. Watching it as an adult I really got to 'see' the movie and actually inderstand it. I believe the scene where the professor comes to class with a severe hangover is one of the all-time funniest movie scenes ever. To come up with the idea was brilliant and pulling it off was brilliant as well!

I agree. Love the red eyes, and the parched, dehydrated mouth on the professor. And the sound effects are hysterical. The scene with Buddy and Dr. Warfield in the dean's office is hilarious too. Watch closely and notice Jerry Lewis nearly crack up a couple times during that part.

IMHO a milestone in comedy. Groundbreaking elements, especially for the Sixties.
shareAgree 100% Bavarian...I had tears at times from laughing so hard. Lewis' timing as actor and director (his editing of certain scenes, and use of silence) is dead on. And most of his obnoxious lines as Buddy are more quotable than anything in recent comedies.
The blu-ray is flawless, btw. The detail and colors are unbelievable -- it looks nowhere near a 50 year old film.
The Nutty Professor is on now (1-3-2015) on channel 27 Orlando and they cut half of the hangover scene out ! I went to a site on the internet that has the script for TNP and this TV version has a lot of lines cut out of it, probably to make room for more commercials.
