Doris' Appearance

I like watching Doris Day's wigs change style and length throughout the movie, especially in the first half hour.

I think it is amazing how good she looks in the beginning with the Marilyn Monroe hair. She looked better with the longer hair, I didn't klike it as much when it suddenly got shorter. But Doris looks amazing in this movie. She had a great figure but they never really showed it off that much. She could have worn Marilyn's dresses and looked great in them.

I never thought about it until reading your thread, but you are correct,Doris' hair looks completely different in every scene in this film.

I don't remember ever seeing this one, except bits and pieces, and I've seen all her movies. I thought she looked very very different - very beautiful! - but different. Nice wigs, though.

I watched this movie several times when I was a kid and a few times as an adult, not knowing anything about Marilyn Monroe and Something's Gotta Give on those viewings. Having just watched it again for the umpteenth time (thanks once again to TCM), I noticed the "Marilyn" hair, and a few scenes where it almost seems like Doris is trying to channel Marilyn, whether it was done purposefully on her part or on request by the movie's creative team.

Funny how her fake eye lashes survived 5 years on a deserted island!

Also funny that her obviously bleached blond hair made it through five years without even any dark roots showing.
