Riz Ortolani.

Is it me or is Riz Ortolani one of the greatest composers ever? His music always sticks in my head for a long time, especially More, his theme for Uncle Tom and his theme for Cannibal Holocaust. I really wish someone would release a compilation CD of his best work, because it's about time he gets some recognition for his incredible musical talent as few people have any idea who the hell wrote More and what movie it's from.

Ortolani is my most favorite composer. What would Mondo Cane and Cannibal Holocaust have been with Ortolani's awesome scores. I had named the song MORE as number 4 in a list of my ten most favorite songs. I wantec to find out how MORE can to be written and that's when I found out about Mondo Cane. Long story short, I love Mondo Cane, and I love Ortolani's work.

Have you seen Mondo Candido or heard Ortolani's score for it? I understand it's supposed to be really good.

hi, are you familiar with a mondocane styled film that shows a colombian girl that was bitten in half by a shark, her dead body lays on a fishermans shack, at the end of this documentary we also see the execution of a young boy by firing squad in nicaragua for looting after an earthquake, his dog stays by his ownwers side long after hes dead.
can you help me out with the title?

reply

i completely agree, ortolani is one of the greatest composer ever

reply

Absolutely! Say what you will about the films he has scored but his music is absolutly beautiful. I dont think that the said films would have had the impact they had on me if his music was not there.

I've only heard the Cannibal Holocaust score, I like it a lot, but technically its quite simplistic i think. Saying that though its a smart bit of work considering the irony of it.

I think i did hear a bit of Spaghetti Western music he did too actually. It wasn't Morricone, but still it wasn't bad.

Oh, there are a couple of compilations exiting of his work and some made it on CD and many of his scores made it on vinyl in the 60ies and 70ies. If you wanna see some of his LPs, please check:
