The Reason...

for the underrating and the almost complete oblivion of such a movie, is perhaps because it is today politically incorrect to show how such a trophy was denied the gl0ri0us S0viet Army (Ike' s k0mrads-in-arms), by One no less than General Patton himself.

There are a lot of Disney movies that are unknown or forgotten because they were shown in 2 parts on "Wonderful World of Color" over two weeks. How many peope have ever heard of "Charlie the Lonesome Cougar?" Same thing. Never in the theatres that I know of for either one.

And "Rob Roy, The Rebel" (1953) with Richard Todd.
Another gem of family entertainment, although not
by Disney, is "The Lion and The Horse" (1953)
with Steve Cochran. Unfortunately it has been forgotten too.

I don't remember "Charlie," but Miracle of the White Stallions had a theatrical release. I saw it at the drive-in with my parents and little brother on a double bill with Donovan's Reef. I never forgot either of them; they've both remained favorites.

Some of the two-parters on the show wee made for the show and than condensed for theatrical release, usually overseas. An example of that was the splendid, "Scarecrow of Romney Marsh".

But "Miracle of the White Stallions" was shown first in theaters and then on TV. I remember seeing it on a movie screen.
