DVD question Delta vs Goodtimes

Can anyone tell me about the quality of the DVD from Delta. I bought the Goodtimes DVD and it's actually worse than watching a bad VHS tape.

reply

I wouldn't recommend the Delta one either. I got it for Christmas, and it's like watching the raw film after taping...but after it's been dropped and scratched. Some parts are OK, but for the most part it has lines and the color is off. I hope that helps.

There will be an official release from Paramount this coming May or June (2005). It is part of a multi-film deal with the Wayne Estate (daughter-in-law) which will include "The High and the Mighty".

Where did you hear that?

Uhh.. it's all over the internet.

Here is one link:

Just do a search for The High and the Mighty DVD.

It has been confirmed in the industry trade papers.

I agree with you on the Goodtimes DVD. I watched it last night. The picture quality is about like an antennae feed in 1963 (or so I would imagine). I am not sure of the aspect ratio of the original print, but this transfer looks like they pan-and-scanned and already full screen picture and zoomed in further. In any one shot, you can see that its cut off on the top and both sides. I watched it on a 12" standard definition tv. When I tried to watch it before on my 55" LCD, I became ill.

Needless to say, I plan to buy the official release soon as this is an outstanding movie.

I just bought the PARAMOUNT SPECIAL EDITION DVD from BORDERS for only $7.99. Actually less than the GOODTIMES DVD I bought back in 2004 for $9.99.
