So, whaddya think happened next?

Rocky and Angie get married quickly, by a Justice of the Peace. Dominick shows up and gives Rocky another black eye. Angie's mother continues to cry in bed, but the real heroes are Rocky's family and old neighborhood friends, who take them in as their own, and Rocky and Angie are pretty happy in a small apt. Rocky takes the job at his friend's used car lot for a while, and does pretty well, but returns to music at Angie's urging. Rocky scores a series of good gigs, bringing him a few bucks, in between more black eyes from Dominick.
Finally, they have a blessing-of-marriage ceremony given by an avant-garde Catholic Priest, and even Angie's mama comes to terms with the whole mess, but not before joining Dominick in giving Rocky two black eyes.

And Anthony gets involved in a pyramid scheme, selling junk to people who don't know why they bought it and he loses his life savings.

reply

But what about poor Guido?!!

reply

To quote Mama Rossini: "Guido's a boy! Who cares what he does?"

reply

Uh, Mr. Cleverboots, you left out the kid, which is the basis of the film in the first place.

reply

Right. The child is the McGuffin. As for what happens next? Nothing. The movie ends. Maybe somebody will try to make a sequel, but I seriously doubt if it could ever be this fine.

They get married, the baby is born, they fight incessantly, and ultimately get divorced.

I don't know if I would put any money on this marriage. While Angela clearly heard the tinkling of something the first time she laid eyes on him, he didn't even remember her. It took his wanting to get back in his families fold and the fact that Angie was self sufficient and he knew that she wouldn't be leaning on him to get him to the alter. Also, he may have not wanted the baby, but he certainly didn't want some other man to have it. His parents will be the heroes here. They adore Angie and worship the baby and thank Rocky every day for them. It all depends on how mature Rocky can become. I agree with another poster that Rocky returns to music, like all real musicians they can't live without it. That doesn't mean they have to starve. If you don't waste your money, it can be a very good job, except you are always working nights and Angie would never have anyone to dance with on New Years Eve. I'd give it 50-50. It may blow up in their faces and then again, it just might work out. Oh, you know that baby's a boy and his dad falls in love the first time he sees it.

You wrote, "...and his dad falls in love the first time he see it." It? A baby is a sentient being, a he or she, not an inanimate object.

Wait just a minute! Rocky's job selling cars in Jersey might pay the rent, but he's a musician and he starts hanging out at a club in Newark on the wrong side of the tracks. He discovers jazz and takes up the Saxophone. While Angie's in her third trimester, Rocky has an affair with Liz, a girl he meets at the club. When Dominick suspects that Rocky is fooling around on the side, he breaks Rocky's arm and lets Rocky know his marriage to Angie means he can't step over the line anymore.
Rocky loves his little girl born on Good Friday, but once he signs with a touring jazz band, Rocky takes off for the west coast and Angie files for divorce.

Angie and Rocky's marriage is tempestuous but great. Rocky knows that if he ever screws up too badly, steady Anthony "Y'Know" Columbo will be waiting in the wings for Angie. Angie and Rocky have a beautiful baby boy whom they both adore, and they live happily ever after.

Rocky did fall in love with Angie. You could see it...he had no intention of doing so but he did. He is a flake but they make it work. His parents are the heroes because they have already accepted her fully. She is the daughter they never had...on top of that to give them a grandchild??? You know they are there for them. He does go and sell cars but he does not forget his music. If he did he would grow to hate Angie and she realizes that. They make it work, make it work (#Tim Gunn's voice) and they have their moments but they have grown to love and respect each other. After the little girl gets older Angie goes back to work and Rocky's mother keeps her. So, everybody is happy. Angie's family eventually comes around.

I think the black eyes would have to stop.
