Great for a remake

I usually hate this kind of post...but this movie is great for a remake. I don't know who could play the role of Angie and Rocky..but there are a lot of good actors out there.

i agree, and i actually hate remakes but i feel that the story is still modern enough, and with roe vs. wade in danger of being overturned it'd be a great point for discussion.

i love this movie but i would actually want the ending to be different. am i the only one who is disapointed that they end up the way they do? the scene before touched on so many themes of a young girl coming to terms with her sexuality and tackling the confusion she feels based on past experience and the way she was brought up. i felt so proud that such a sheltered, complex girl was able to make a life of her own and be so brave. it would have been unthinkable at the time for her to have the baby alone, but maybe in a remake. . . . something for a more modern woman.

You would like the movie Waitress. It's not the same (she starts out married) but believe me, you would like it.

They did remake it, it's called Knocked Up.

Why in the world would anyone even consider remaking this great film? Who could possibly replace this cast??

no way could they remake this movie natalie wood and steve mcqueen are just perfect in their roles..i don't know who could play their parts.

Now, there's an intelligent statement. At least someone on this board has brains.
Replacing Natalie and Steve is like trying to replace Ruth and Gehrig.

I couldn't have said it any better.

I was just thinking about how a remake would go.

The couple would show up for the abortion, and the guy would snap a picture of the people performing the abortion for facebook, in order to "abortion-shame" these people.

The dog owner would have snapped a picture of the woman in her tub in order to "break into an apartment-shame" her (on facebook, of course).

The main characters would keep talking about safe spaces.

There would be a lot of criticism because the families of the young adults would be "too stereotypical Italian" or whatever.

The main female character would take a selfie at the start of the film (in the place where she meets the guy), because she knows that she won't be going to that room again.

The guy would take a selfie at Macy's to prove to her family (in the future) that he visited the girl there when she was working.

The fight between the guy and the girl's brother would be recorded and it would wind up on social media. The guy, of course, would take a selfie of his black eye.

Their initial one-night stand would have involved a lot of picture taking, which, of course, would be posted on some "secure" site (which the girl's brother would find).

Since abortion is still legal in the States (well, I don't know for how much longer), the key storyline wouldn't make sense anyhow.

I'll stick to this wonderful 1963 film, thanks! 

They might be able to get a good cast for a remake, but it doesn't mean that this story would make sense in modern-day times. Unless, of course, they decide that the film should be set in the sixties......

What is your reasoning that this would be great for a remake? This movie shouldn't be remade because it would make no sense in today's world. Times have changed drastically, and not necessarily for the better. Half the babies in this country are born out of wedlock. It's no big deal at all for a young woman to get pregnant, and abortion is legal now. So where's the story?

And there is nobody, and I mean nobody, among today's cookie cutter "stars" that could come remotely close to the charm of Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen.

I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.

That's exactly it (regarding abortion). If ever a remake is made, it would be very different from this film.
