I think that most of the people see it the same. 1994 version is very easily recognized as a modern masterpiece. On the other hand i think Love Eterne is sometimes very illogial and silly. There's too many far-fetched moments in the film. It's just improved by Tsui Hark as usually when he's making remakes. tnx for him.

Go and check out the 2 movies' position in the HK film archive or all time top 100 Chinese movies' list. Tsui Hark's version is no where to be seen. In fact, Tsui Hark's version is considered such a flop that both the actor and the actress who acted in it have long gone from the silver screen.
You were incorrect. This film is simply best of the best. If you have some very basic knowledge about chinese traditional culture, you would know this. You simply cannot use some modern people's idea to value this kind of love stories. You simply cannot use so called "logic" to justify almost all of the chinese stories.
