Kitty Hawks?

I hear the hillbillys refer to "Kitty Hawks" througout the film. Who are they referring to? The women? The military men?

reply

The kittyhawks are the women that are always taking men - they mention it after the main one gives the kittyhawk call.

They are the girls from the nearby valley where offspring are mysteriously all female (and voluptuous). They run around gigglin hollerin and horny for men. Yee haw!

Some of the Kitty Hawks would have been right at home in a Russ Meyer film. The actress who sends the general in the wrong direction is a prime example!

I'm pretty sure that's Maureen Reagan.

Maureen Reagan is definitely in this movie and she does play one of the Kitty Hawks but she's not the one misdirecting the general. She's best seen in the scene right before that. She and the girl who did misdirect the general were the ones who grabbed Josh (Elvis' character).

She's the girl holding on to Elvis' arm throughout the scene when they discuss delaying the general. She's wearing a light green top and a light pink skirt and her one line in the movie (I think) is 'why, we ain't gonna hurt him.' This is a little over an hour into the movie.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

Thanks for the clarification, mdonln. I seem to remember that there were 2 of the featured "Kitty Hawks" who looked similar to me. I'll have to watch when the movie runs again, so thanks for the id and guide to the location in the action. Now I'm curious to know if Maureen Reagan resembles the one I had in mind.

Edited later:
I checked Turner's website, and saw that "Kissin' Cousins" is on their Watch TCM page. I ran it from around the 1 hour mark, and found the scene you mentioned at 1:07. Maureen's spoken line is as you quoted it. In a future airing, I'll keep an eye out for her in group scenes.

Actually it was a joint effort. I had heard of Maureen Reagan as Reagan's daughter but I wasn't aware she was an actress. When I went back to look at the Kitty Hawk you mentioned, I didn't see a resemblance so I looked up Maureen Reagan's info. I found a picture of her around the age she was when the movie was made.

Fortunately I didn't have to scan the entire movie. I figured since she's in the credits, she probably got a little more screen time than most of the others. There weren't that many scenes with the Kitty Hawks so I found her pretty easily. If you hadn't mentioned it I'm pretty sure I would have never even noticed.

Thanks for taking the effort of finding pictures to do a positive ID of Maureen Reagan. I looked at her IMDB profile, and the photos are all of her as a baby or young child. I know I'll watch the movie again, and I'm glad that you cleared up any confusion I had, or caused for others. A least I had no doubt identifying Teri Garr!

No, it's Beverly Powers as Trudy, the chief Kittyhawk girl.
