I actually quite like this movie

- it may have cheap production values, phoney-looking sets and boast a third or fourth-rate script but despite all of that (or maybe because of that) it's a lot of fun.

Kissin' Cousins is my FAVORITE Elvis movie. The songs fit in quite nicely with the storyline. And several of the songs are quite good: "Catchin' On Fast", "Once Is Enough" and "Kissin' Cousins". Tommy Ferrell is dynamite in his role and quite nearly steals the film. Tommy's real life mother is great. The whole thing is wonderful fun. "Tender Feeling" is another nice song. Why people trash this movie is beyond me. I love it!

Well said ,all the cast done a great job, the lovley Yvonne Craig, Elvis looking fantastic both as Josh and Jody, I still cant find it on dvd though, my favorite was Stay away Joe,still awaiting a dvd release , another movie that people trash, both these were much better than the terrible Heram Scarum Elvis at least seemed to enjoy himself in these movies.

We NEEd this movie, Girl Happy and Stay Away Joe on DVD NOW!

Yvonne Craig, whoaaa what a honey. She was sexy in "It Happened at the World's Fair" (smaller role unfortunately) and great as Batgirl.

yeah this movie was enjoyable just so it today and it's my first elvis movie and it was quite good. Definately not an A lister but descent and way better than the crap they put on tv and in the movies today.

If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?

This is the first I've seen this movie and I was not impressed. I watched it but it was exactly as ho-hum and predictable as I expected. I assume this was a vehicle for Elvis to capitalize from his popularity with women at the time.

Watching it in 2015 isn't exactly the same. Of course I know Elvis was popular but I can't really see it. I don't find him to be as attractive as a lot of people claim he was and if his musical talent was anything like what I see in this movie it was lacking. Naturally, none of that really mattered then or now. My reaction is probably the same as it would be for anyone not of the generation to make sense of any generation's teen idol.

That may be true but he went on to make a lot more movies after this one. I have to assume someone was going to see them or they wouldn't have kept making them. He couldn't have been cheap talent either. From what I hear, his manager, Parker, was a tough and astute businessman; at least he was determined to protect his client's interests.

I don't think he isn't talented here but I'm sure he phoned in a lot of his performances as he hated making these films (from what I can remember). He started out making good films and his music career was at its best in the early years but returning from The Army, he had lost some of what made him great I guess you could say
Maybe that's what I was noticing. I certainly didn't mean to suggest that the man had no talent. There are quite a few of his songs I like and I can imagine his music wasn't the only thing that caused the girls to drool but if I only had to go by this movie I would wonder what the Elvis hype was all about.

Since seeing this movie I saw a documentary that was made on him that contained mostly backstage footage of concerts. I think it was the later years. I developed a great deal of new found respect for the man. Possibly for the first time I got to see him, the person, not a character and without the fanfare. I liked him and suddenly understood his appeal. He was charming, funny, and nice. He seemed like a genuinely sincere and good person. In those scenes he's shown in rehearsals practicing his craft, which he took seriously, with his band. He was real.

All that may not change how I feel about his performance in this particular movie but I suspect next time I watch one of his movies, whether I like it or not (and there are some I like), I'll just appreciate it for what it was for his fans at the time - a chance to see him.
