I can't believe they left a nip-slip in...

Let me start off by saying, I'm not some perv that goes looking for stuff like this; but at the same time, I was very surprised. At about the hour and seven minute mark, when Elvis (as Josh) and his platoon are captured by The Kittyhawks, there is a close scene where he and two of the ladies are on the ground. As he wrestles with them to get loose of them, the one on his right (the main Kittyhawk, in a yellow top) has a "wardrobe malfunction" of great proportions.

I discovered this when the movie was recently on Encore's Elvis Month. What surprised me so, as this ladies right breast came near completely out of her top, exposing the nipple fully, was that this had not been caught before and edited out. Unless this is a version that wasn't shown in the original theatrical release, there is no way they didn't see this in the editing room. It was easy to see on the small screen (well, it is a 50"), I can only imagine what it looked like back in 1964 on the big screen.

I want some feedback here. Has anyone else noticed this before? Anybody ever see it on the big screen and notice or know of any controversy or chatter about it then or since? Just interested that something so clear went by, especially in a more conservative Hollywood.

I just watched it on TCM, and they don't edit films. A frame-by-frame viewing showed no wardrobe malfunction. Could it be that TCM didn't get possession of an unedited version?

Well, I found this to be so amazingly impossible that I had to watch this on DVD again. Sure enough, Archangel, you are correct!! I'm also surprised that they didn't clean this up on the DVD! RP

Watching it today on TCM, in real time on a smallish TV, I could not discern a visible nipple (and believe me I was paying strict attention). I will say that a substantial portion of the well endowed young woman's breasts were exposed, albeit briefly. Rather risqué for 1964 especially for a Presley movie.

I borrowed the Warner Brothers DVD and watched this segment several tines using slow motion, frame by frame advance and zoom. I could not see a nipple. Pieces of what appear to be leaves get stuck at the bottom of the woman's breasts near the end of the sequence.

Looking for stuff like that doesn`t make you a perv. Don`t listen to the prigs and prudes.

If I'm looking at the correct frame, what you're seeing isn't a bare breast/nipple, but rather a bra or other garment that is underneath her yellowish shirt. Sorry buddy, but no nekkid nipple.

reply

Yeah, I just saw the scene and it comes close to revealing Trudy's full nekkid breast, but not quite.
