Ford Rainey was really good

...in so many character roles during the time when white men ruled the world. He is terribly miscast here, as is nearly everyone. And as no one disagrees with, the film is beautiful to look at and has a good musical score. This was filmed around the same time as Cape Fear, and Thompson is a fine director, but could do just so much with this cast.
