Biggest Plot Hole For Me

If your fellow soldier saves your life and in the process gets burned to a crisp by a strafing North Korean airman, what would you do after the airman bails out and is floating in the ocean?

1. Leave him in the ocean?
2. Kill him in a rage?
3. Rescue him and nurse his wounds?

Remember, this airman was so focused on killing you, that he made one last strafing run even though his plane was crippled. The guy who saved your life died a terrible death, and now throughout the remainder of the movie, all you can think about is the humanity of the airman who fried your friend?

Absurdity: A Statement or belief inconsistent with my opinion.

That's not a plot hole but the plot of the movie.

According to several rules and conventions of war they did the right thing by rescuing the Korean and taking him prisoner. To then deliberately kill him would be a war crime.
