edgar allen poe?

Charles dexter ward is lovecraft.

is the plot from poe and the name from lovecraft?

reply

The plot is from Lovecraft and the title is from a Poe poem. AIP insisted on the Poe connection to capitalise on the recent Corman-Poe movies

reply

As Goatboy says the story is from Lovecraft. They just set it in the Poe era. I think Corman wanted to use those period costumes from 'Premature Burial' again for economic reasons.

I want to see this movie, as I have just finished reading The Case of Charles Dexter Ward by Lovecraft. I have seen this before long ago, but I would like to watch it again now that I have read that most excellent short novel. It retains a lot of elements from the book, though the overall story is actually quite different from the synopsis I read.

As the others have said, though, the studio forced the use of a Poe title, which seems really absurd to me since it has NOTHING to do with Poe.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Also check out the movie The Resurrected, based on the same book.

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.

I did, and I really didn't like it very much. It does stay far more true to the story, but all in all the low production values and the rather bad acting from much of the cast just made it disappointing. I really despise the dumb detective character and the hinted romance with the wife. Ugh.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.
