One more about the end credits

I just saw this on Amazon Prime. I also noticed the end credit "black box," where something had been covered up.

It seems to me that the cover-up was done to hide the fact this was made in England. If it was, it must have been just the studio work. The street scenes surely looked like NYC. There's one scene where Hammer's going to Moriarty's at 50 East 54th. I looked this one up on google maps. Sure enough, the Hotel Elysee with The Monkey Bar right next to it are in the film at 1:11:26. Spillane goes past them. And Moriarty's is a name on a door he enters just past The Monkey Bar. Google Maps still shows Hotel Elysee and The Monkey Bar, but the building where Moriarty's was supposed to be has been replaced by a huge skyscraper at 527 Madison Ave. Right where that door to Moriarty's was.

I have to believe that this scene, and others, were filmed in NY city. Maybe they decided not to film it in London? And thus, the cover-up at the end? Just guessing, but it sure looks a lot like NYC to me.

Interesting facts. And also interesting that Spillane actually got to play his character in film. Not often does that happen.
