Parallels with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Did Steven Spielberg and George Lucas use this as an inspiration while making Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? Both have sequences in Venice, a motorboat chase with the hero and female lead being chased, the female lead is a spy who changes allegiances in the film (and even look similar.) I say changes allegiances, because in one film the female is a baddie who changes to the hero's side while the other pretended to be good but was bad, both were hired by the bad guys to seduce the hero to glean information from him. there is an underground sequence with water and rats, and they come up through a secret escape route outside to get away. Had this film for a long time, but I guess I never got around to watching it till now....

There's something wonderful about a storm.

There is one very distinct difference: From Russia With Love was good, Last Crusade isn't even as good as the dogshit I accidentally stepped in.

Nah, no connection. This is a cold war movie. Last Crusade wasn't

I definitely agree with you here: Spielberg and Lucas always have maintained the fact that 007 was a huge inspiration for the Indiana Jones movies and this film really does show that. In addition to the similar elements that Last Crusade has with this, I always thought that this film has a similar feel to Raiders. I feel like a lot of the elements of Raiders were inspired by the tropes introduced in this movie.
