why did they go to the gypsy camp?

After spying Gilenko through the periscope Kerim Bey says he needs time to think what to do about him. Then he takes Bond to the gypsy camp where the Kerum Bey's opponents shoot at him and there's a cool battle. Grant also joins in the fun. Battle ends and they all go home.
I don't think it's very clear how Kerim Bey knew of Gilenko's hideout behind the poster but it seems to me he knew about it all along.
I would have preferred the Gypsy boss to have Intel on Gilenko but tho never happened.

So why did they go there?

After Karim was almost killed in the explosion, he tells Bond that it's not safe for him to stay in his hotel room that night. So they go to the gypsy camp to try to lay low, which doesn't work, of course since Gilenko knew they was going there. How he knew they were going there? I don't know.

I think they just tailed them there in a car right? Wasnt it one of the same guys that had been creeping around earlier in the day and following them?
