Magical in a way that is no longer possible

Yes, trapped in its time, but what a time. The TV-sitcom pedigree of the writers-director make this essentially a big budget tv-movie, but has any cast ever looked this fabulous? And the jokes are there - Kirk does comedy in a way like no other, and Gig Young rocks. Thelma Ritter is a force to be reckoned with. And William Bendix is joyfully along for the ride.

All the female beauty leads are captivating beyond belief, and in minor roles, Sargent & Windom are strong - another reason this is a classic. Every role is perfectly played.

The movie is both innocent & sexually suggestive - a rare, unique achievement. Pushing the envelope, but so demure to make sure the seal is licked properly...
