Favorite lines from this movie (everybody play along!)

I love flicks that are heavily quotable, and Dr. Strangelove is definitely one of them! Here's a couple of my favorite lines from the movie:

Pres. Merkley: "Do you think I'm just calling you to say hello, Dmitri?....Of course I like talking to you, Dimitri, of course I like saying hello...Not just now, but anytime!"

Major Kong: "(listing items in survival kit, pills, money, etc) Shoot, a fella could have a good time in Vegas with all that stuff!"

Pres. Merklye: "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here this is the WAR ROOM!"

And the topper of it all:

Dr. Strangelove: "MEIN FUHRER! I CAN WALK!"

Keep the thread going, give us some quotes!

reply

General "Buck" Turgidson: Mr. President, we must not allow a mineshaft gap!

reply

This cracks me up every time I hear it.

President Muffley, on the phone with the Russian Premier:

Hello, Dmitri? Listen, I can't hear you too well, do you suppose you could turn the music down just a little? Oh, that's much better. Yes. Fine, I can hear you now, Dmitri. Clear and plain and coming through fine. I'm coming through fine too, eh? Good, then. Well then, as you say we're both coming through fine. Good. Well, it's good that you're fine, and — and I'm fine. I agree with you. It's great to be fine.

GENERAL: Try one of these Jamaican cigars, Ambassador; they're pretty good.

RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR: Thank you, no. I do not support the work of imperialist stooges.

GENERAL: Oh, only commie stooges, huh?

I love the binder General Buck Turgidson takes with him to the War Room: World Targets In Megadeaths.

reply

I love the way Bucky reminds his secretary/lover/mistress to say her prayers. The whole conversation is just hilarious but the way he says that line with the expression is awesome

reply

General Ripper: "It looks like we're in a shooting war."
Mandrake: "Oh hell."

Mandrake: "Colonel, I must know what you think has been going on here."
Col "Bat" Guano: "You know what I think? I think you're some kind of deviated prevert and I think General Ripper found out about your preversion and that you were organizing some kind of mutiny of preverts." "

Col "Bat" Guano after Mandrake goes into a phone booth to try to call the President:
"If you try any preversions in there I'll blow your head off."

Edit: Just thought of another one...

Turgidson to Muffley shortly after the Russian Ambassador arrives:
"Mr. President, you gonna let that lousy commie punk vomit all over us like this?"

reply

I love the Buck's binder too! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that!

reply

I've always liked the "You're going to have to answer to the Coca Cola company for that" one, can't remember off the top of my head the exact quote.

reply

That was a great line, delivered to perfection.

"...and that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana shaped."

reply

Pres. Merklye: "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here this is the WAR ROOM!"

I second that line, absolutely hilarious in my opinion.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".

reply

Although I hate to judge before all the facts are in,it's beginning to look like Gen. Ripper exceded his authority.

reply

For you, angry intern:
Keenan Wynn: If you don't get in touch with the President, do you know what's going to happen to you?
Peter Sellers: What?
Keenan Wynn: You are going to have to answer to the Coca Cola Company.

reply

Here's another I thought of:

Gen. Ripper: "When they tortured you, Mandrake, did they make you talk?"

Col. Mandrake: "No, actually I think they just wanted me to scream. The thing is they make such damned good cameras.."

(IF I GOT THIS WRONG, PLEASE CORRECT ME. THANKS.)
