drained pond?

The doctor ordered them to drain the pond, didn't he? Cause that's how they found that stone thing. So then why didn't they find the guy who died at the beginning? Cause Louise threw him over board and then threw his suitcase and typewriter in after him... so if they drained the pond, wouldn't they have found his body?

They were in a different lake.

In a different *country*, no less.

lol thanks- I must have missed that somehow- I'm going to have to watch it again...

Well, they might have been at a different lake when she threw him overboard, but they must have been in Ireland. She types the note and slips it under his mother's door before throwing the suitcase and typewriter into the pond (surely she didn't lug them far from the house??). Also, her husband must have been with her at the mother's house to start with, otherwise why type the letter saying he was suddenly called away?? It wasn't explained very well, was it?

Yeah, I thought it was the same pond, too! How many ponds did they have around that joint? And why didn't anybody notice the playhouse had been basically demolished by axe (cause the kook didn't bother to open the DOOR)? Good movie, for an AIP flick, but that stuff really bugged me.

Exactly I just answered that on another post..n her way to toss the suitcase she slips the note under the moms door, so she had to be somewhere near there, maybe it was a pond off the property and he was going out to have some alone time. Or maybe it was just a different pond all together but on the same property. Idk but had to be somewhere around there bc she couldn't have flown to NY in a few hours plus had she not been at their house she wouldn't of needed to hide his stuff in firs place, she could've just taken what she needed with her to Ireland. So she has to be somewhere nearby

This is how I've always understood it: Louise and John are staying at the castle awaiting Kathleen's memorial ceremony. There's a lake nearby which is large enough to have a dock and to row a boat in. There's also a very small pond right behind the castle. Louise dumped John (and later his luggage)into the lake and returned to the castle to type the note. The next morning she arose and told everyone John had been called away during the night.
