WILLIAM CAMPBELL RESEMBLES TONY CURTIS

Saw this film on TVS here in Sydney last night.

I thought William Campbell had a striking resemblance to Tony Curtis.

I totally agree.

I'm wondering if William Campbell, Tony Curtis and Liberace were triplets separated at birth. Look up their photos and see for yourself. It sure would add to the nature versus nurture debate.

Now that's a good one!! I love it!!

I'm glad someone else noticed that.

Both are brunettes. That's it. I would never mistake one for the other. And, Liberace certainly doesn't look like either of them!

People constantly do this: Claim someone looks "just like" someone else.

i do portraits, with a lot of preliminary sketching. So, I notice facial structure, eyes, hair, ears, etc. William Campbell could never be mistaken for Tony Curtis or vice versa.

Maybe if people were completely unfamiliar with the two actors and hadn't seen them much on film... Otherwise, I don't see a scrap of look-alike about them.

*** The trouble with reality is there is no background music. ***

The op didn't say he looks "just like" Tony Curtis. He said he resembled Curtis and he does. If you are unable to see the resemblance which is obvious I have to question how good your "portraits" are.

Then again people don't expect much of those sketches with big heads driving a race car so I doubt too many people complain, huh?

I've had two professional artists tell me very recently that I should list myself as a professional, not an amateur, due to the quality of my sketches. I have more than a half-century of art experience, with a number of first-place awards in competition.

I've been an illustrator, and I've done work for people that is framed and on display. I've exhibited at numerous conventions and had another professional artist critique my work and encourage me to continue. And, I've delighted children with life-size portraits of their heroes/superheroes. I've heard from two of them who still have those posters.

I think people see curly/wavy, black hair and say, "Gee! They look alike!" It's the same with Natalie Gregory/Heather O'Rourke, Leonard Whiting/Zac Efron and many other claimed resemblances.

I don't know about the style you're describing. Is it caricature? If so, I've never done that style in my life and generally dislike it. Actually, the only artist I think is successful as a caricaturist is the brilliant Al Hirschfeld.

Now, if they said that Campbell and Curtis looked alike from a great distance, squinted your eyes and imagined very hard...
