One odd little thing:

When Louise strips down by the pond and ties the little dolls together, what the hell is she supposed to be pouring on the strings . . . acid?

reply

I wondered the same thing the other night when I saw this. You must be right. Something like acid. It slowly made the strings dissolve so then the dolls would float up, free from the weight of the wrench, at a later time.

It was certainly great timing. Floating to the surface while everyone was out there and watching the pond.

Maybe Louise was a diabolical chemist before embarking on her plan to seize the family fortune.

I wish that was in the subj line bc it was why I came to the message board in first place! I went thru all of subj tryin to find out wth was going on with the string and. Toys bc I'm impatient and since there wasnt any obvious connection in the subj line I just opened all of them! Glad I didn't give up since there actually was conversation on it! Haha anyway thanks for the input It was driving me crazy!

reply

Thank you! It was driving me a little nuts, too. Yeah, acid that dissolved at just the right speed while underwater; she obviously must've earned more than just an MRS degree in college.

What did she see at the bottom of the pond? I couldn't tell what it was

I know this is an old post but I'll answer anyway... it looks like Kathleen (or a doll life size doll version) laying in an underwear memorial..

Also I don't think it is acid, they way she coats the strings would burn her hands. I do think it is some kind of chemical that slowly dissolves things in water.
