He cracked me up with his description of how a mean woman is depicted in a cartoon.
I thought Shirley Jones was very good, too, and looked terrific.

That's a gross overstatement. Plenty of child stars did just fine as adults. More than those who didn't. They may not all be actors but they are doing fine.
