Better as a play

This works MUCH better as a play because it's ONLY in the apartment, and the character development is much greater.

I saw it recently at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, UK, and am seeing it again on Friday, wish I could find some photos to show you, but I preferred it totally than the film.

You mean someone actually staged the Neil Simon play in the twenty-first century? Could Manchester really be that retro in its outlook?

That retro in its outlook? What are you talking about?

Its just a play.

And yes, it was performed for a good few months at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, and it was very popular, and I enjoyed it lots. The set was also superb as it was the Royal Exchange, meaning its design completely took over the theatre, and it was in the round, so it felt very immersive.

What exactly was your question/point?

I totally agree, this is much better as a play than a film. In college, we actually performed this play (I was Peggy). I had my brother record it, and then I purchased the movie video. I watched them both, bc I wanted to compare the different aspects (it was the first time I had performed in something that was also a movie)... It was so much better on stage. I love Frank Sinatra and Lee J Cobb, but it just didn't work for me as a movie.

England is INCREDIBLY retro in its outlook. Someone told me recently that they still do plays from the 15th and 16th centuries there, if you can believe that, and even perform them occasionally in a theater built to resemble one that stood over 500 years ago.

Pretty nuts.

This is SERIOUSLY unfunny! You can see how it could be funny, but the rhythms are all off, and you would definitely need comic actors who could hit the right beats.

Guessing that the play must be MUCH funnier, which means, it must actually have some laughs in it!
