Oliver Reed would have brought a different vibe, certainly, and I know he would have done a great job. I thought Roddy McDowall was excellent and brought a slightly decadent vibe, which was in keeping with the times, much in the same way Jay Robinson did, to The Robe. He was a necessary contrast to Burton's red-blooded macho which would have been too similar to Reed's.
