I am so nostalgic about my childhood. Me and my friend Mary saw this movie at a matinee in about 1964, whenever this was in theaters. That would have made us about 8 years old.

Mary was scandalized that some of the mothers were not married. We went back to her house and Mary, in a shocked voice, told her mother

"He was born without a father!"

Her mother, not knowing the plot of the movie said calmly "That's not unusual"

We were both surprised. Mary's mom said "Happens all the time"

Me and Mary looked at each other, speechless.

What innocence!

Nowadays with the divorce rate being as high as it is, kids would probably be shocked to see two parents together in a close, loving relationship.

Death lives in the Vault of Horror!

Not just the divorce rate, but a couple getting married who don't already have kids togethter is a rarity.

The whole marriage, kids, divorce thing, no one has it figured out yet.

Some years ago I watched a one-year-old girl dance and be the life of the party at her parents's wedding.

At my nephew's wedding, all the guests were passing their 8 month old around the room. It was amazing he didn't cry once.
