I just wanted to let people know...
I'm a John Cassavetes fan, and I recently picked this up as part of a 2-disc set with another Cassavetes film, "Love Streams". It is a Region 2 PAL disc (with forced French subtitles, though you can use a program like DVD Shrink to get rid of them), and it is (unless I am mistaken) only available with "Love Streams". For somebody like me, who loves Cassavetes work, I had no problem paying $40+ for it, but if you're only picking it up for "A Child Is Waiting", well...
Still, the video quality, while not anamorphic, boasts an excellent transfer. As for extras, there's only a trailer and a few images. The whole package is very nice, with a nice booklet, though the text is in French. Like I said, if you want just this film, it might be a bit expensive for you, but who knows...maybe you'll watch Love Streams and like that as well :-)
There are Chinese bootleg copies of this set floating around on eBay for substantially less than $40...but I personally wouldn't trust them.
You can get a Region 2 DVD version of this film from Spain. It is an authentic release and it is very good quality. It has removable Spanish or English subtitles as well as Spanish or English audio. You can get it on Amazon.com.
shareI ordered this movie on VHS years ago from Critics Choice Video and DVD. It must have cost about $21 or so. Critics Choice is mail order and they are also on the Internet. Great film!!! So interesting to see a young Steven Hill. He was on Law and Order for so many years. And Gena Rowlands is divine. John Cassavetes knows how to make a film.

Anyway the movie is available in Italy on dvd as well. A friend of mine got it and I still need to check the print and languages and subtitles.
