The opening credit sequence alone makes this movie....

Just watch them on YouTube...they'll make you smile. Great, great music.

RIP, Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant.

And, since it was made in 1963, there is no way these striking images were computer generated! Very impressive, and it does draw you into the movie immediately.

We should identify the gifted individual who created the opening titles for Charade; his name is Maurice Binder. My favorite title sequence of all time (Two For The Road) was also designed by him.

Binder's other credits are linked below:

He's a visual genius. So many outstanding titles including Charade of course. My favorite is The Spy Who Loved Me.

Taken separately, the cool credits and the wonderful song along with the traintrack intro, are in fact better than the actual film to follow.

I wish there could be great title sequences like that in movies today. There almost never are. It's honestly my favorite part of the movie (which is saying a lot since I did like the movie)

It is wonderful!

Cary Grant hums the theme song in his last movie (Walk Don't Run, 1966). I'm watching it now and I just passed that part. Maybe he couldn't get that melody out of his mind, three years later...

Wow, I thought I was the only one who liked them, I have to agree that I faund them too long by the end, but still I give them credit because back in those days there were no computers and they were really cool :)

I have always thought that as well. Opening credits were outstanding! Thank you for mentioning this fact. Music by Mancini is always a treat with any of his movies.

reply

I loved it too--as well as the film! Just saw it for the first time yesterday.

reply

Yes. The opening credits were fantastic.
