Special lighting for Miss Crawford!!!

There's a scene in this movie between Crawford and Stack alone in a large furnished room. For some reason where ever Crawford goes in this room the lighting on her head is the same. It's really hilarious.

the lighting budget had already been used up on Joanie's eyebrow make-up.

Looks like similar lighting was used for Ana MarĂa Lynch (AKA Ana St. Clair) in the birdcage scene.

Why would you find this hilarious? I don't quite understand why the
consistent lighting over her head would be funny.

"OOO...I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

reply

It's funny because no matter what room she's in, no matter what time of day it is, the lighting on her never changes. That's why it's funny. Because it's campy. It's obviously done because Miss Crawford is the star of the picture, she is getting on in age, and she is vain about her looks. Get it?

Actually, Robert Osborne mentioned on the TCM showing of this that Joan was third billed and received no special credit other than her name on this film. But I'm sure she demanded and got her lighting just the same, because she's JOAN CRAWFORD.

Am I anywhere near the imaginary cliff?

poor joan crawford
hollywood just chewed her up and spit her out
in her later years she had to play villain parts
and in this movie Susan Oliver because she is young and beautiful is the good one

just like the fairy tales
