very interesting article from TCM

I've seen this film 4-5 times, the last time being yesterday on TCM and the first time in 1963 at the Leimert Theatre in Los Angeles at the tender age of 13. This theatre was within steps (okay, maybe a block or 2)from where the Black Dahlia was found in the late 1940s. Of course, I didn't know that then and that's probably a good thing.

Anyway, interesting, interesting article re this film. If you haven't seen the film yet, you might want to skip paragraph 3 which manages to give away many spoilers.

Find out who Preminger considered hiring in the lead role before settling on Tryon. Also, read all about Preminger's brow-beating behavior toward some of the actors.

Hello there. I was amazed when reading your comment that you saw the film at the Leimert theater in L.A. I used to go there quite a bit as a kid. I suspect we are of similar age. I remember seeing Tom Jones (1963) America, America (1964?) and numerous other films there. I grew up in Windsor Hills and went to a Catholic grammar school not far away called St. Bernadette's on Marlton just off Stocker and what used to be Santa Barbara. would be interested to know your connections to that place and time. Cheers, Greg
